Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menilai keberkesanan program kesedaran kesihatan mental yang dilaksanakan melalui kempen pameran dan ceramah dalam kalangan pelajar Kolej Vokasional Ampangan (KV Ampangan). Reka bentuk kajian pra dan pasca digunakan dengan melibatkan 296 orang pelajar pada peringkat ujian pra, manakala 88 orang pelajar dipadankan sebagai sampel pada peringkat ujian pasca. Instrumen soal selidik mengukur empat domain utama, iaitu pendedahan media, pengetahuan, sikap dan kesedaran terhadap kesihatan mental. Analisis Ujian Wilcoxon Signed-Rank digunakan untuk membandingkan skor sebelum dan selepas intervensi dijalankan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan bagi keempat-empat domain, iaitu pendedahan media (20.92 kepada 22.22, p < .05), pengetahuan (29.38 kepada 30.78, p < .001), sikap (28.19 kepada 29.61, p < .01) dan kesedaran (17.40 kepada 19.40, p < .001). Peningkatan paling ketara dicatatkan dalam domain kesedaran dan pengetahuan, menunjukkan bahawa program intervensi singkat berupaya mengubah persepsi serta meningkatkan literasi kesihatan mental dalam kalangan pelajar vokasional. Kajian ini memperkukuh kepentingan pelaksanaan program pendidikan kesihatan mental yang berstruktur di institusi TVET di Malaysia.

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a mental health awareness programme delivered through an exhibition campaign and talk among students at Vocational College Ampangan (KV Ampangan). A pre-post design was employed involving 296 students at the pre-test stage and a matched sample of 88 students at the post-test stage. A questionnaire measured four key domains: media exposure, knowledge, attitude, and awareness of mental health. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was used to compare scores before and after the intervention. Findings revealed significant improvements across all four domains: media exposure (20.92 to 22.22, p < .05), knowledge (29.38 to 30.78, p < .001), attitude (28.19 to 29.61, p < .01), and awareness (17.40 to 19.40, p < .001). The most notable gains were in the awareness and knowledge domains, indicating that a brief intervention programme can meaningfully shift perceptions and improve mental health literacy among vocational students. This study reinforces the importance of structured mental health education programmes in TVET institutions in Malaysia.
