Abstract

The healthcare industry in Malaysia encounters a pressing difficulty in retaining the healthcare practitioners, and efforts to improve this challenge would focus on increasing the employee’s intention to stay (ITS), with psychological stability playing pivotal roles in influencing employees' intention to stay. This study analyzes the impact of psychological stability which includes variables of executive functions (EF), motivation, occupational burnout (OB), occupational resilience, and personality on the healthcare professionals' intention to stay. Drawing from the Job Demand-Resource Theory, this research proposes a conceptual framework that integrates psychological factors as key determinants of workforce ITS. The research highlights the importance for healthcare organizations to enforce strategies that foster psychological well-being, and a resilient work environment. These findings provide insightful inputs to human resource management in the healthcare sector, providing practical guidance for enhancing intention to stay and encouraging dedicated personnel.
