Employee productivity is an important factor in determining organizational effectiveness, particularly in the public sector where employee performance contributes directly to the quality-of-service delivery. This study examines the relationship between performance appraisal practices and employee productivity, focusing on three dimensions which are appraisal accuracy, appraisal relevance, and appraisal fairness. A quantitative research design was employed, involving 127 civil servants selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analyses. The results show that appraisal accuracy, appraisal relevance, and appraisal fairness are significantly and positively associated with employee productivity. Multiple regression analysis indicates that the three appraisal dimensions collectively explain 93.9% of the variance in employee productivity, with appraisal fairness emerging as the strongest predictor. The findings highlight the importance of maintaining fair, accurate, and job-relevant appraisal practices and provide practical implications for strengthening performance management in the Malaysian public sector.
