Emotional stability in marriage is closely linked to the quality of interaction and relationship satisfaction between spouses. However, these interactions are increasingly challenged by partner phubbing and feelings of loneliness associated with the growing integration of digital technology into everyday life. Therefore, this study examined the relationship between loneliness, partner phubbing, and relationship satisfaction among married adults in Malaysia. A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was employed, involving 339 respondents. Data were collected using the UCLA Loneliness Scale (ULS-8), Partner Phubbing Scale (PPS), and Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS). The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The findings showed that loneliness was positively correlated with partner phubbing (r = .301, p<.05), while both loneliness and partner phubbing were negatively correlated with relationship satisfaction (r = −.381 and r = −.331, respectively, p<.05). Multiple regression analysis further showed that loneliness (β = −.309, p<.05) and partner phubbing (β = −.238, p<.05) were significant predictors of relationship satisfaction, with loneliness emerging as the stronger predictor. These findings provide insight into how emotional and behavioural factors are associated with relationship satisfaction in contemporary marriages and highlight the importance of maintaining emotional connection and managing technology use within marital relationships.
