A quick emergence of the synergy between lean management, digital transformation, and sustainable development has changed the modern approaches to gaining efficiency, innovating technically, and being environmentally responsible. Even though the above-mentioned areas have been researched extensively separately before, the importance of exploring the synergy between them and their role in forming the modern lean digital economy and green development has not been emphasized. The purpose of this narrative literature review is to summarize and critically analyse the literature published from 1990 to 2026 regarding the theoretical background, emerging trends, and applications of combining lean and digital ideas and sustainability goals. The review will examine the existing literature in three interrelated thematic categories: the role of digital technologies in innovating and changing the organization; the compatibility of the capabilities in question with the goals of green development; and the role of lean techniques in improving productivity and value creation. It turns out that the combination of lean and digital has significant potential for resource efficiency, organizational resilience, and sustainable economic growth. Nevertheless, the literature raises the issues of technology-induced inefficiency, unevenness of digital readiness, and a lack of empirical evidence about the impact of such combinations on sustainability. In terms of theory, the paper helps to form an approach which treats digital transformation, green development, and lean techniques as complementary abilities rather than separate notions. Practically, the research provides guidance for scientists, managers, and policymakers who want to formulate strategies that would help to maintain productivity, innovation, and sustainability at a decent level.
