This study examines the role of the murabbi as a mediating variable in the relationship between learning methods and Qur’anic moral character formation among members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 458 respondents through a structured questionnaire. The data were analysed using hierarchical regression analysis to assess both direct and indirect effects among the study variables. The findings reveal that the role of the murabbi significantly mediates the relationship between learning methods and Qur’anic moral character formation (β = 0.156, t = 2.139, p < 0.05). This result indicates that the effectiveness of learning methods in shaping moral character is strengthened when mediated by the murabbi, who functions not only as an instructor but also as a moral exemplar and spiritual guide. The study contributes to Islamic education literature by proposing an empirically supported model that integrates pedagogical strategies with the spiritual and moral role of the murabbi within a military training context. Practically, the findings suggest the need to strengthen murabbi-based training modules to enhance holistic moral development among military personnel.
