Tujuan kajian ini untuk mengukur pengaruh tingkah laku nomofobia antara hubungan pengguna telefon pintar terhadap prestasi akademik pelajar tingkatan 6. Kajian ini menjurus kepada tiga objektif kajian iaitu mengenal pasti pengaruh penggunaan telefon pintar terhadap tingkah laku nomofobia. Objektif seterusnya ialah mengenal pasti pengaruh tingkah laku nomofobia terhadap kesan prestasi akademik pelajar. Akhir sekali, mengukur pengaruh tingkah laku nomofobia sebagai mediator antara penggunaan telefon pintar dengan prestasi akademik pelajar tingkatan 6. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan data dianalisis menggunakan perisian Statistical Package for the Social Sciences versi 26 (SPSS) secara soal selidik yang melibatkan pemilihan sampel secara rawak pelajar tingkatan 6 di Malaysia. Antara analisis statistik yang dibincangkan dalam kajian ini seperti analisis regresi dan regresi berganda. Penemuan hasil kajian hipotesis pertama menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan di antara penggunaan telefon pintar dengan tingkah laku nomofobia. Seterusnya, hipotesis kedua menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan di antara tingkah laku nomofobia terhadap kesan prestasi akademik pelajar. Akhir sekali, hipotesis ketiga pula menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan di antara penggunaan telefon pintar dan tingkah laku nomofobia dengan prestasi akademik pelajar. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat membantu pihak kementerian pendidikan dan pihak sekolah dalam membentuk dasar, polisi serta peraturan dalam kawasan sekolah bagi mengehadkan dan mengawal penggunaan telefon pintar di dalam bilik darjah demi kesihatan serta kebajikan semua pelajar.
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of nomophobia behavior on the academic performance of Form 6 students. Specifically, the study aims to address three primary objectives which includes identifying the influence of smartphone use on student nomophobia behaviour. Secondly, the objective of this study is to determine the influence of nomophobia behaviour on students’ academic performance. Thirdly, the study aims to measure the influence of nomophobia behaviour as a mediator between smartphone use and academic performance of form 6 students. This study employs a quantitative research method. Data were collected using a questionnaire conducted to a random sample of Form 6 students. The data were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26, with regression analysis and multiple regression analysis techniques applied to test the hypotheses. Based on the findings on the first hypothesis, the study shows that there is a significant influence between the use of smartphones and nomophobia behaviour. Adding on that, the study also suggested that there is a significant influence between nomophobia behaviour and the impact of student academic performance. And last but not least, the hypothesis shows that there is a significant influence between smartphone use and nomophobia behaviour with student academic performance. This study is expected to oblige the Ministry of Education and schools in formulating policies, guidelines, and regulations aimed at limiting smartphone use in school environments. Such policies could help mitigate the negative impact of nomophobia on students’ health and academic success.
