Abstract

Falsafah adalah asas kepada segala ilmu pengetahuan. Penghayatan terhadap falsafah akan melahirkan individu yang menghargai fungsi akal di samping memantapkan pemahaman terhadap sesuatu perkara. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk meninjau signifikasi kursus berkaitan falsafah terhadap pelajar yang mengambil kursus-kursus berkaitan falsafah di institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT). Bagi mendapatkan data, kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk kajian kuantitatif dengan instrumen soal selidik. Seramai 515 orang pelajar yang mengambil kursus berkaitan falsafah dengan struktur kursus hampir sama di beberapa IPT awam terlibat dengan kajian ini. Dapatan yang diperolehi menunjukkan keperluan untuk menghasilkan satu modul kefahaman falsafah menerusi integrasi dan penyelarasan kurikulum kursus-kursus berkaitan falsafah. Ia diharap memberikan impak terhadap usaha melonjakkan kecemerlangan pelajar merangkumi aspek akademik dan pembangunan diri di samping membantu pelajar mencapai beberapa kemahiran soft skills khususnya dalam  aspek pemikiran yang diperlukan sebagai salah satu medium untuk memformulasi budaya inteligen di kalangan pelajar IPT.

Philosophy forms the foundation of all branches of knowledge. An appreciation of philosophy nurtures individuals who value the function of reason while deepening their understanding of various matters. The objective of this study is to examine the significance of philosophy-related courses for students enrolled in such courses at institutions of higher learning. This study employed a quantitative research design using a questionnaire as the instrument. A total of 515 students enrolled in philosophy-related courses with similar course structures across several public universities participated in the study. The findings indicate the need to develop a philosophy comprehension module through the integration and coordination of curricula in philosophy-related courses. It is hoped that this will positively impact efforts to enhance student excellence, both academically and personally, while supporting the development of soft skills - particularly critical thinking - which are essential for fostering a culture of intellectualism among university students.
