Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan meneliti potensi doa dalam memperkasakan karamah insaniah, iaitu keunggulan rohani dan akhlak insan menurut perspektif tiga ulama besar Islam: Imam al-Ghazali, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah dan Imam al-Nawawi. Kajian ini berteraskan metodologi kualitatif berbentuk kajian analisis kandungan terhadap tiga karya utama mereka iaitu Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din, al-Wabil al-Sayyib, dan al-Adzkar. Penelitian ini juga membandingkan penemuan klasik tersebut dengan rujukan kontemporari untuk menilai relevansi dan panduan praktikal kepada pelajar dan masyarakat Islam hari ini. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa doa bukan sahaja sebagai ritual spiritual, tetapi sebagai alat pembinaan kendiri, pengukuhan nilai insaniah dan pengupayaan kemenjadian pelajar  holistik. Artikel ini menyarankan pengintegrasian konsep doa dalam pendidikan karakter dan pembangunan insan dalam sistem pendidikan Islam kontemporari.

This article aims to examine the potential of prayer in empowering karamah insaniah—the spiritual and moral excellence of human beings—from the perspectives of three prominent Islamic scholars: Imam al-Ghazali, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, and Imam al-Nawawi. The study is based on a qualitative content analysis methodology focusing on their three main works, namely Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din, al-Wabil al-Sayyib, and al-Adzkar. This research also compares these classical findings with contemporary references to assess their relevance and practical guidance for students and the Muslim community today. The findings reveal that prayer is not merely a spiritual ritual but serves as a tool for self-construction, strengthening human values, and empowering a balanced personality. This article recommends integrating the concept of prayer into character education and human development within contemporary Islamic education systems.
