Abstract

Konsep ‘red flag’ merujuk kepada tanda-tanda awal yang menunjukkan kewujudan tingkah laku bermasalah dalam sesuatu hubungan, seperti manipulasi emosi, sikap mengawal, ketidakjujuran dan paksaan. Dalam era digital, konsep ini semakin popular dalam kalangan remaja Muslim melalui media sosial, namun kebanyakannya difahami dalam kerangka psikologi sekular tanpa panduan agama. Justeru, artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsep ‘red flag’ dalam konteks pergaulan remaja menurut perspektif akhlak Islam. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui analisis kandungan terhadap sumber primer seperti al-Qur’an dan hadis, serta karya ulama akhlak seperti al-Ghazali dan Ibn Miskawayh, di samping rujukan kontemporari berkaitan tingkah laku sosial remaja. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa elemen-elemen utama ‘red flag’ mempunyai padanan yang jelas dalam ajaran Islam, yang telah lama menggariskan larangan terhadap tingkah laku toksik serta menyediakan prinsip akhlak yang holistik seperti kejujuran, keadilan, kesederhanaan dan penghormatan terhadap maruah insan. Kajian ini juga menegaskan bahawa konsep ‘red flag’ boleh dijadikan instrumen pendidikan akhlak yang relevan sekiranya disaring dan disepadukan dengan prinsip maqasid syariah. Oleh itu, integrasi antara wacana kontemporari dan nilai akhlak Islam adalah penting dalam membina kesedaran moral, emosi dan spiritual remaja agar mampu membentuk hubungan sosial yang sihat, beretika dan berteraskan wahyu.

The concept of “red flags” refers to early warning signs of problematic behavior in relationships, including emotional manipulation, controlling tendencies, dishonesty, and coercion. In the digital era, this concept has gained widespread popularity among Muslim adolescents through social media; however, it is often understood within a secular psychological framework without religious guidance. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the concept of “red flags” in adolescent social interactions from the perspective of Islamic ethics. This study adopts a qualitative approach using content analysis of primary sources such as the Qur’an and Hadith, as well as classical works of Muslim scholars, including al-Ghazali and Ibn Miskawayh, alongside contemporary literature on adolescent social behavior. The findings reveal that the key elements of “red flags” have clear parallels within Islamic teachings, which have long addressed harmful behaviors and provided a comprehensive ethical framework grounded in values such as honesty, justice, moderation, and respect for human dignity. The study further argues that the concept of “red flags” can serve as a relevant moral education tool when critically filtered and integrated with the principles of maqasid al-shariah. Hence, the integration of contemporary discourse with Islamic ethical values is essential in fostering adolescents’ moral, emotional, and spiritual awareness, enabling them to build healthy, ethical, and faith-based social relationships.
