AI, E-Hailing, Gig Economy, Work PerformanceAbstract
The rapid growth of e-hailing and platform-based gig work increased scholarly interest in the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the management of workers, services, risks and mobility systems. The existing literature is fragmented on the impact of AI-based management of platforms, which is widely deployed to support ride allocation, demand prediction, pricing, performance monitoring, safety control and decision-making, on e-hailing workers. This systematic literature review aims to investigate the impact of AI-enabled platform management on e-hailing workers through the identification of key research trends, issues, applications and challenges reported in recent research. The review was carried out according to the PRISMA framework for transparent and systematic identification, screening, eligibility and inclusion. An advanced search strategy was used with search keywords like “gig economy,” “p-hailing,” “safety,” and “AI” in the databases of Scopus and Web of Science. The search was limited to studies published between 2023 and 2026 to capture the latest developments in AI-enabled platform work and intelligent transportation systems. A total of 156 primary studies were selected for synthesis after screening and eligibility procedures.
