Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan untuk menilai kesan teknik SQ3R terhadap kefahaman membaca Bahasa Tamil dan juga meninjau persepsi murid terhadap penggunaan teknik SQ3R. Kajian menggunakan reka bentuk kuasi eksperimen. Seramai 63 orang murid tahun tiga daripada dua buah sekolah rendah daerah Sepang dijadikan sebagai sampel kajian. Sampel kajian terbahagi kepada kumpulan rawatan yang menggunakan teknik SQ3R dan kumpulan kawalan menggunakan kaedah pengajaran konvensional. Data kuantitatif dikumpul melalui pra ujian dan pasca ujian, Ujian Pemahaman Bacaan serta soal selidik. Ujian-t digunakan untuk menganalisis data dan menguji hipotesis yang dibina. Dalam kumpulan rawatan, terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan dalam skor min ujian pra dan pasca (p= 0.000, p<0.05) dan terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan antara skor min ujian pasca kumpulan rawatan dan kumpulan kawalan (p=0.04, p<0.05). Dapatan ini menunjukkan teknik SQ3R lebih berkesan dalam membantu murid meningkatkan kefahaman membaca Bahasa Tamil. Selain itu, persepsi murid terhadap penggunaan teknik SQ3R dalam kefahaman membaca adalah positif. Diharapkan kajian ini akan memberikan bimbingan kepada guru dan murid mengenai pelaksanaan teknik SQ3R dalam PdPC kefahaman membaca.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the SQ3R technique on reading comprehension in Tamil and also to survey students' perceptions of the use of the SQ3R technique. The study employs a quasi-experimental design. A total of 63 year three students from two primary schools in the Sepang district were selected as the study sample. The study sample was divided into a treatment group using the SQ3R technique and a control group using conventional teaching methods. Quantitative data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, Reading Comprehension Tests, and questionnaires. The t-test was used to analyze the data and test the constructed hypothesis. In the treatment group, there was a significant difference in the mean pre-test and post-test scores (p= 0.000, p<0.05) and a significant difference between the post-test mean scores of the treatment group and the control group (p=0.04, p<0.05). These findings indicate that the SQ3R technique is more effective in helping students improve their reading comprehension in Tamil. Additionally, students' perceptions of the use of the SQ3R technique in reading comprehension are positive. It is hoped that this study will provide guidance to teachers and students regarding the implementation of the SQ3R technique in reading comprehension teaching and learning.
