Abstract

Kajian ini meneroka peranan guru Matematik dalam pendidikan STEM untuk Murid Berkeperluan Pendidikan Khas Ketidakupayaan Pendengaran (MBPK-KP) di Malaysia dengan meneliti pelbagai perspektif, perbincangan, dan jurang yang wujud dalam literatur semasa. Objektif kajian adalah untuk mengenal pasti cabaran dan strategi pengajaran yang relevan dalam konteks pendidikan khas, serta menilai kesesuaian pendekatan sedia ada dalam memenuhi keperluan pembelajaran murid berkeperluan pendengaran.  Empat tema utama telah dikenal pasti: (i) Pengintegrasian STEM, (ii) Cabaran pelaksanaan, (iii) Strategi PdPc, dan (iv) Jurang dasar. Setiap tema dianalisis melalui sintesis pelbagai kajian antarabangsa dan tempatan yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2021 hingga 2025. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa Pendidikan STEM kepada MBPK-KP menuntut pengajaran yang lebih responsif, visual, dan kontekstual. Ia juga memerlukan latihan guru yang bersesuaian dan sokongan dasar yang jelas. Perbincangan juga mendedahkan kepentingan penyelidikan lanjut terhadap keberkesanan pendekatan pengajaran berasaskan teknologi serta penglibatan aktif komuniti pekak dalam pembangunan bahan bantu mengajar. Kajian ini memberi gambaran menyeluruh kepada pembaca mengenai trend, cabaran, dan potensi masa depan pendidikan STEM dalam kalangan MBPK ketidakupayaan pendengaran, sekali gus mencadangkan hala tuju penyelidikan dan dasar yang lebih inklusif dan mampan.

This study explores the role of mathematics teachers in STEM education for Students with Hearing Impairment under Special Education Needs (SEN-HI) in Malaysia by examining various perspectives, discussions, and gaps within the current literature. The objective of the study is to identify the challenges and teaching strategies relevant to the context of special education, as well as to assess the suitability of existing approaches in meeting the learning needs of students with hearing impairments. Four main themes were identified: (i) STEM integration, (ii) Implementation challenges, (iii) Teaching and learning (PdPc) strategies, and (iv) Policy gaps. Each theme was analysed through a synthesis of multiple international and local studies published between 2021 and 2025. Findings indicate that STEM education for SEN-HI requires more responsive, visual, and contextualised teaching. It also demands appropriate teacher training and clear policy support. The discussion highlights the importance of further research into the effectiveness of technology-based teaching approaches and the active involvement of the Deaf community in developing teaching aids. This study offers a comprehensive overview of current trends, challenges, and future prospects of STEM education for students with hearing impairments, and proposes a more inclusive and sustainable direction for future research and educational policy.
